Issues
Affordability: Wooster needs more affordable housing, both rentals and homes for sale. We can address this issue by working with Community Partners, like Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority, to come up with informed solutions.
Transparency and Communication: The City can and should do a better job involving the community in the decision making process. I want to expand opportunities for citizen comments on pending legislation. I also want Council to be more selective about when it passes legislation on its first reading.
Public Transportation: Let’s work to expand WayGo routes to incorporate the East and West sides of Wooster—not just North and South—and to have service on Sundays. This will also help with housing prices by connecting all parts of the city via easy to use public transportation. When people have access to public transportation to get to work, it allows builders to put housing throughout the city, not just concentrated in a few neighborhoods near job centers. More housing means lower housing prices, and more people in Wooster lessens the tax burden on everyone and grows our local economy.
Stewardship: Tax dollars need to be spent carefully and intentionally, and I plan to contribute to the good stewardship of public funds and resources.
Roundabouts: I am not against putting in new roundabouts, but I believe we need to be selective and intentional about where they are placed. Building a roundabout is expensive and time-consuming and should be a last resort to solve traffic flow problems.
